(SAN DIEGO) No. 6 PLNU Volleyball swept Concordia (25-19, 25-17, 28-26) on Wednesday night in Golden Gym for its seventh straight victory and fourth consecutive sweep.
Abigail Nua came out swinging, recording four kills as Point Loma jumped out to an immediate 7-2 lead in the first set.
The Sea Lions led by no fewer than two the rest of the opening stanza, as the hosts scored the final four points of the set, with a dump from setter
Sophia Baugh officially putting PLNU up 1-0.
Point Loma then went on an early 7-0 run in the second set to take an 8-2 advantage.
Jill Leslie's solo block closed out the set, during which the Sea Lions hit .433 as a team.
CUI battled in the third set to save four PLNU match points, but back-to-back kills from Leslie and Nua ultimately sealed the sweep for the Sea Lions.
Nua led all players with 16 kills, on a .469 attack %, with
Saren Rogers adding 11 kills of her own. Baugh dished out a match-high 26 assists, while
Hailey Wilson (10 digs) and Leslie (four blocks) also led all players in their respective defensive categories.
PLNU hit .340 as a team, its second most efficient offensive performance of the season, marking the fifth straight match the Sea Lions have hit above .300 as a team.
Point Loma (9-1 overall) returns to Golden Gym on Saturday to host Hawai'i Pacific at 2 p.m.
