(RIVERSIDE, Calif.) PLNU Women's Cross Country raced in its second meet of the 2025 season on Saturday morning at the Riverside Invite.
Â
"Today was a mixed bag," Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jake Poyner said. "We had a few solid performances.
Maddie Reeves was consistent in her positioning up front and did a great job.
Michelle Ramos made great strides in the Invite 6K."
Â
Reeves posted another top-10 individual finish, placing ninth in a time of 20:43.2, which broke her own 6K program record that she re-set just two weeks ago.
Â
Â
Zaila Smith (21:33.3) and Lia Markert (21:47.5) also finished in the top-100 individually, crossing the line in 73rd and 99th respectively.
Â
Jocelyn Gibson (106th – 21:50.4) and
Elizabeth Satterlee (114th – 21:53.3) also broke 22 minutes.
Â
"Some of our women in the Open 5K ran awesome," Poyner said. "I'd like to highlight
Megan Collard and
Heidi Manson for being bold in spirit and competitive in their approach. Both of them ran big lifetime bests."
Â
Point Loma returns to competition in two weeks, with the squad splitting to race in both the Manny Bautista Invite (Oct. 10) in San Diego and the Lewis Crossover Challenge (Oct. 11) in Romeoville, Illinois.
Â
"The team score was not what we were looking for," Poyner said. "Ultimately, our 1-5 gap was just too large, and we did not execute on our positioning goals. We're hopeful this is a learning moment for the team as we move closer to our championship season."
