(SAN RAFAEL, Calif.) PLNU Women's Soccer came away with a thrilling 3-2 win over Dominican on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of last season's PacWest championship, as the Sea Lions completed a perfect Northern California trip.
Â
Maddy Saruwatari scored the first two goals of the game to take her individually tally to a team-leading seven goals on the season.
Â
Her first goal came just over four minutes into the match, as Point Loma outshot Dominican 8-2 in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the interval.
Â
Saruwatari then struck again in the 69th minute to double the Sea Lions' advantage.
Â
However, the Penguins responded just 20 seconds later to reduce their deficit back to one before equalizing in the 79th minute.
Â
That set the stage for
Nikki Ross to score the game-winner in the 85th minute, with
Madison Khan providing the assist.
Â
The win continues PLNU's unbeaten start to conference play and extends its unbeaten streak to seven matches overall.
Â
Point Loma (6-2-5 overall, 3-0-2 PacWest), in second place in the conference standings, plays next at first-placed Biola (7-3-2, 4-0-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
