(SAN DIEGO) No. 12 PLNU Baseball swept Wednesday's doubleheader against Chaminade to remain unbeaten in PacWest play, winning game one 8-0 before scoring 12 unanswered runs in game two to win 12-4.
In game one,
Jake Schwartz and
Hank Smith both homered to provide more than enough run support for starter
Derek Silva, who threw six shutout innings while striking out a season-high nine batters.
Matt Elliot pitched three scoreless frames of his own to earn the save and preserve PLNU's third shutout in four games.
Then after trailing 4-0 in the second inning of game two, the Sea Lions scored five runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to roar back and complete a doubleheader sweep.
Mason Cook hit a go-ahead three-run homer to make it 6-4 Point Loma in the fifth, before
Tristan Moore rounded out the scoring in the sixth and capped off his five-hit day with a two-RBI triple to left.
Point Loma (10-3 overall, 6-0 PacWest) will host Chaminade in a conference doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m.
