(CHICO, Calif.) No. 16 PLNU Baseball opened its four-game set at Chico State with an 11-3 victory over the Wildcats in Thursday's series opener.

Point Loma scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings, including six unanswered, to go up 10-1.

PLNU then held Chico scoreless in innings three through seven before the hosts added a couple in the bottom of the eighth.

The Sea Lions tacked on one more in the top of the ninth, as Point Loma reached double digits in runs for the first time this young season.

Center fielder
Ben Finnegan had three run-scoring hits on the day, including a double, and added three RBIs.

Aiden Arriaga,
Josiah Rodriguez and
Landen Bailey all had multiple hits to provide more than enough run support for starting pitcher
Derek Silva, who earned the win with six stellar innings on the mound, striking out six while only allowing a single run.

Point Loma (2-2 overall) and Chico State will play in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at noon.
