POINT LOMA BOUNCES BACK WITH WIN OVER MENLO

(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball returned to its winning ways on Thursday night, defeating Menlo by a score of 78-62 inside Golden Gym.

After an upset loss to Fresno Pacific on Saturday ended Point Loma's seven-game winning streak, the Sea Lions bounced back with a dominant win over the Oaks.

Leading 13-10 after one, PLNU took full control of the game with a 13-0 run in the second quarter fueled by its pesky defense.

The Sea Lions forced 17 turnovers in the first half, with Izzy Navarro tallying seven steals in the first half alone, as Point Loma took a 36-19 lead into the locker room.

PLNU held Menlo to 0-for-12 from 3-point range in the first half, and 0 for its first 15 before the Oaks finally got one to go from distance with 2:24 left in the third.

Point Loma extended its lead to as many as 25 in the second half, as all 10 Sea Lions scored in the victory.

Eiley Tippins led all scorers with 24 points to reach the 20-point mark for the fourth time in five games, while also adding a game-high nine rebounds.

Hannah Golan nearly had a double-double with 10 points and eight boards, while Navarro flirted with a triple-double with seven points, 11 assists and eight steals.

Navarro entered the top-10 in program history for most steals and assists in a single season.

Point Loma (16-5 overall, 12-3 PacWest) next travels to Hawai'i for a three-game trip to the Aloha State, beginning on Tuesday at Chaminade. Tip-off in Honolulu is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT / 5:30 p.m. HT.
