(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Tennis battled No. 36 Azusa Pacific to the very end before the Cougars spoiled the Sea Lions' Senior Day, 4-3.

Alina Kupfer's forehand winner helping her and
Perla Conde Vendrell overturn a 2-3 deficit to go up 4-3. The duo then broke serve and held its own to win 6-3 and set up a winner-take-all at No. 1.

In a rematch of the ITA West Regional double championship, regional finalists
Emely Valencia Andrejeva and
Anna Pallencaoe forced a tiebreak during which they won the final five points, as Pallencaoe's overhead slam at the net put PLNU up 1-0 in the match.

Conde Vendrell won her singles match at No. 4 in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 before
Zoe Moley claimed a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 comeback victory at No. 5 that tied the match at 3-3.

Melissa Zirkle nearly overcame a deficit on Court No. 6, forcing a third set with a 6-2 triumph in the second. She then trailed 1-4 in the third before getting to within 4-5, but APU held on to win the match and pick up the overall team victory.

Point Loma (11-3 overall) had its 10-match winning streak come to an end. The Sea Lions will next travel to Hawai'i for three matches, beginning on Friday at Hawai'i Pacific.
