(SAN DIEGO) No. 11 PLNU Volleyball opened up the San Diego Invite with a three-set sweep (25-20, 25-23, 25-22) against RV DBU on Thursday night in Golden Gym.
 
The Sea Lions came out swinging in their home opener, jumping out to an 8-2 advantage in the first set after Hailey Clark's service ace. DBU battled back to lead 19-18 before PLNU closed out the set on a 7-1 run, with back-to-back Ila Rose kills clinching the opening stanza.
 
Consecutive service aces from Rose in the second set capped off a 5-0 run that tied the second set at 13 apiece before Gianna Callari then put PLNU up 2-0 in the match with a kill to close out the second set, 25-23.

Rose then had three service aces during a 6-0 Sea Lions' stretch in the third set, which Clark closed out with a kill to complete the sweep.

Sophia Baugh dished out a match-high 30 assists, while freshman Rose led all players with 12 kills and six aces in her first career match in Golden Gym as a Sea Lion.

Kaitlyn Cabral had nine kills while Clark added eight of her own. Baugh (11 digs) and Federico (10 digs) both had double-digit digs.
 
Point Loma (2-2 overall) hosts Winona State on Friday at 6 p.m.
