Sea Lions Open GSAC With Lopsided Loss

PLNU opened Golden State Athletic Conference play with a 5-0 loss at The Master's at Reese Field Saturday. The Sea Lions slipped to 1-5 overall, 0-1 in conference while the Mustangs improved to 6-1-1, 1-0 GSAC.

Forward Joel Peluffo notched a hat-trick for TMC, scoring in rapid succession, in the 49th, 54th and 56th minutes.

The Mustangs got the only goal they would need, however, in the 25th minute when David Alegria scored. The Sea Lions trailed by just one goal entering the break, but the scoring floodgates opened in the second half.

Jacob Marchesani's goal in the 60th minute made the final score 5-0.

PLNU was outshot 17-3, all three attempts by Francois Furlan. The Mustangs had 11 shots on goal, five found paydirt and six were saved by Sea Lion keeper Eric Leboffe.

On Wednesday PLNU travels to Concordia for a 3:00 pm conference match.
