Women's Tennis vs. Fresno Pacific

Loma Slips to Fresno Pacific

The Sea Lions dropped their first match of the year, falling to No. 2-ranked Fresno Pacific 5-2. The match was halted after the Sunbirds gathered in the five points necessary for the team win.

PLNU, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA is now 5-1 overall, 4-1 GSAC. FPU improves to 8-0, 4-0 in conference.

Doubles play began the match. Each match was decided by the identical 8-6 score but it was the Sunbirds winning two of three points. PLNU's win came on court two by Rachel Owens and Ahley Litchfield.

Ashley Strimple claimed a win in singles for the Sea Lions, winning a three-setter 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 over Katia Sabate. The Sunbirds won singles on courts two, four and six and gained the team win. The other two matches were tight. Rachel Owens and Vanessa Heroux were deadlocked a set a piece, five all in the third and 30-30 when the match was stopped.

The Sea Lions host No. 3-ranked Concordia at 4 pm Tuesday.
