BOX SCORE
IRVINE, Calif. - Saturday wasn't a good day for Loma volleyball as NAIA No. 11-ranked Concordia swept aside No. 18 PLNU 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-15). The Sea Lions are struggling in the late stages of the season, having now lost six of nine.
The Green and Gold struggled to get anything going offensively, hitting just .031 in the conference match. PLNU was good on just 26 kills in 98 attempts. The team combined for 23 errors, nearly as many as they had kills.
Point Loma was ahead just once during the entire match, 1-0 to start the third. Otherwise it was all Concordia. The Eagles, exacting a measure of revenge for a loss in San Diego earlier in the season, hit .308 and were led by 18 kills from Amber Ridens and 10 from Brooke Marino.
Alyssa Dwyer led the Sea Lions with eight kills, followed by seven from Maddie Dahms and six from Alyssa Pitkin. All-American Tabitha Henken was shut down by the CUI defense, tallying just three winners in 24 swings.
PLNU falls to 15-12 overall, 9-9 GSAC while the Eagles improved to 21-7, 12- GSAC.
The Sea Lions will try to get back on track Tuesday when they host Vanguard at 7:00 pm.
