FRESNO, Calif. -- NAIA No. 6-ranked Point Loma Nazarene suffered an 8-1 loss at top-ranked Fresno Pacific Wednesday afternoon. The Sea Lions fell to 10-3 overall, 5-2 GSAC while the Sunbirds improved to 15-2, 8-0 conference.

Doubles competition began the conference match and the host FPU squad grabbed all three points. The Sea Lion duos of Joel Myers/KC Ensley lost 8-6; Tyler Bowman and Diego Tavera lost 8-6 as well with Angel Tavera and DJ Jaehnig falling 8-2.

The Sunbirds claimed wins in the top-five slots for their eight points. Myers lost to Kiriill Sinitsyn 6-1, 6-2; Bowman was beaten by Xavier Smith 6-3, 6-2; Ensley fell to Cledson Carvalho 6-4, 6-0; Diego Tavera lost to Nathan Martinet 6-1, 6-2 and though he forced a third set, Jaehnig was dropped by Amarit Sanchez 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

The lone PLNU point came on court six where Michael Zablan knocked off Travis Johnson 6-0, 6-1.

Loma plays host to Biola this Saturday starting at 12:30 pm.
