LA MIRADA, Calif. – The NAIA No. 6-ranked Point Loma Nazarene men's tennis team recorded an 8-1 win over conference rivals Biola 8-1 on Saturday.

This was a tough match for the Sea Lions who were without No. 1 Joel Myers, but the men fought through and emerged triumphant. Singles saw Tyler Bowman on court one and DJ Jaehnig on court two splitting sets but managing to take home points. Both won the first set 6-2 but then both lost the second 6-4.

The third set showed different scores though both won, with Bowman powering through 6-4 and Jaehnig finishing 6-3. No. 3 was Chad Rubin who won 6-2, 6-1 and Andrew Combs on court four was also victorious with both sets ending 6-3. Angel Tavera won his first set easily with 6-1 but then struggled with his second set, managing at the end to edge a 7-6 win. Kevin Camballa on court six smoothly snatched a win with a final score of 6-4, 6-2.

The men had to work in doubles but it paid off with Jaehnig and Angel Tavera on court one winning 8-6 and Bowman and Mike Zablan on court two winning 8-4. Court three was Loma's only loss of the match with Combs and Trent Brown falling 8-5.

Next up for PLNU is a home match against rival No. 1 Fresno Pacific, Wednesday at 2 p.m.
