ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Point Loma Nazarene improved to 5-1-1 after taking down Soka 4-0 Friday night in a non-conference match played under the lights.
The two sides combined for 23 shots; 13 for PLNU, 10 for Soka. Loma keeper Carter Phillips stopped all three Lion shots on goal while the Sea Lions were able to put three past Timothy Sasser; though he did record six saves.
The fourth PLNU score was an own goal.
Griffin Fuller sent in Point Loma's first ball, in the 20th minute, that coming on an assist from Paul Malherbe. An Erick Friessen to Nico Acosta goal in the 47th minute put the Sea Lions up 2-0. Austin Fares sent in the team's third score, in the 69th minute.
An own goal in the 81st minute gave PLNU the final 4-0 margin of victory.
Point Loma has one more non-conference match remaining on the 2011 slate; a home game against Arizona Christian this Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
