PLNU falls despite Campbell's career night

ST. GEORGE, Utah
- Andrea Campbell's double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds kept the Point Loma women's basketball team in its game with Dixie State but the Red Storm prevailed in the Pacific West Conference matchup, 80-63, on Saturday, Dec. 15.

The loss evens the Sea Lions' record on the season at 3-3 and at 1-1 in the PacWest. Dixie State has now won five straight games, including four in the PacWest, to move to 6-3 on the season and to 4-0 in conference.

Starting her second straight game, Campbell recorded career-highs in both points and rebounds. She hit 6-of-12 shots from the field and pulled down 12 of her 15 rebounds on the defensive end. She also added three assists seven blocked shots.

PLNU's starting backcourt of Callie Rhoads and Savannah Erskine combined to score 37 of the Sea Lions' 63 points. Rhoads registered a season-best 19 points by connecting on 7-of-15 shots, including four 3-pointers. Erskine eclipsed her season-total of treys by hitting five shots from long range en route to putting up 18 points.

Jordan Giles led five student-athletes in double-figures for Dixie State with 14 points. Johnna Brown had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Point Loma was without its top two scorers, Nyla Bailey and Carlotta Kloppenburg, in the game. Kloppenburg missed due to injury and Bailey for disciplinary reasons.

The Sea Lions will now head to Azusa, Calif., to play in the Azusa Pacific Classic on Dec. 18-19. They will face Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and then face George Fox on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
