(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball Head Coach
Carlotta Kloppenburg-Pruitt has announced the hirings of
Richard Vasey and
Kami Walk as assistant coaches ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Both Vasey and Walk coached with Kloppenburg-Pruitt during her hugely successful stint as head coach at Southern Oregon.
"I am thrilled to reunite with Richard and Kami," Kloppenburg-Pruitt said. "They were absolutely integral to our success at SOU and having them both join us here at PLNU is incredible."
Vasey has over three decades of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels, serving as SOU Assistant Coach for five seasons after spending more than two decades as girls' basketball head coach at St. Mary's High School in Medford, Oregon.
During Vasey's five seasons on staff at SOU with Kloppenburg-Pruitt, the Raiders reached the NAIA National Tournament every season, winning two Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season championships and three CCC Tournament titles.
Walk, who played for Kloppenburg-Pruitt at SOU, spent the 2024-25 campaign on staff at her alma mater during the team's 34-1 national quarterfinal season. She then spent this past year as a graduate assistant for NCAA Division I Florida State.
As a player at SOU, Walk averaged 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for her career, earning All-CCC honors three times and NAIA Third Team All-American recognition in her final season.
"First and foremost, they align perfectly with the mission and culture of Point Loma, and I know they will be exceptional mentors and teachers for our student-athletes," Kloppenburg-Pruitt said.
