FRESNO, Calif. -- NAIA No. 6 ranked Point Loma Nazarene managed to snag just two points from conference leader Fresno Pacific in a 7-2 loss Saturday.
 
The setback puts Loma to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the GSAC while second-ranked FPU is pushed to 14-4, 10-0 GSAC. The Sunbirds have now won 96 consecutive conference matches (never lost).
 
The two Green and Gold points came from singles courts three and six. Jessica Kwan on court three took the first set 6-0 over Jennifer Ren who retired from the match in the second set. Loma's No. 6 Wileen Chiu edged Elizabeth McFeeters in a tie breaker. Chiu won the first set 6-2, lost the second 7-5 and won the tie breaker 10-6.
 
The rest of the singles were taken by FPU in straight sets. Maika Adair on one lost to Katarena Paiivets 6-1, 6-0; Kiersten Steinhauer who played at two this match fell to Marie Boura 6-2, 6-3; No. 3 Hope Penner of PLNU was beaten by Yumiko Justin in straight 6-3 sets; and finally, Sharon Reibstein on five was defeated 6-4, 6-0 by Erika Januskova.
 
Court two doubles came close to getting another point for the Sea Lions, but came up short. Kwan and Steinhauer were the team that battled before falling to Justin and Ren 9-8. Loma's No. 1 team Adair and Reibstein fell to Paiivets and Januskova 8-2 and court three saw Penner and Chiu lose 8-6 to Boura and Anna Mikhaylova.
 
Tuesday will find the Sea Lions on the Concordia courts to play the No. 8-ranked Eagles. Play begins at 12 pm. PLNU will try to snap a two-game losing skid.
