LA MIRADA, Calif. -- NAIA sixth-ranked Point Loma Nazarene swept past Biola Saturday afternoon. The Sea Lions, winners of two straight, improved to 10-5 on the year, 7-3 against Golden State Athletic Conference foes. 

Head coach Rich Hills utilized a different lineup on Saturday, giving some of his starters the day off.  The Green and Gold responded, notching three quick wins during doubles competition. 

Wileen Chiu and Sharon Reibstein posted an 8-1 win on court one; Hope Penner and Katelyn Abayan shutout their opponents 8-0 on court two while Preethika Venugopal and Michaela Johnson cruised 8-2 in number three doubles.

The Sea Lions lost just three total games during singles. Kiersten Steinhauer competed on the top court, winning 6-0, 6-2. The two through five players all posted shutouts: Penner, Reibstein, Venugopal and Abayan. Johnson on six concluded the day's competition with a 6-3, 6-0 win.

Loma pays host to a non-conference match versus Xavier University (La.) Monday at 4:00 pm. The Gold Nuggets are 3-16 overall and 0-0 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in 2012. However, nine of the team's 14 losses are against NCAA Division I opponents. Six losses came against ranked NAIA opponents, and the other was against a top-50 NCAA Division II opponent.
