SAN DIEGO – NAIA No. 6 Point Loma Nazarene swept visiting No. 21 Westmont 9-0 Saturday afternoon to improve to 13-5 overall, 9-3 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. 


The Warriors fell to 6-9, 5-8 GSAC with the loss. PLNU swept the season series from WC and the Sea Lions have now won five straight matches.
 
Singles play began the match with Point Loma  clinching the team win by claiming all six points. From the top of the ladder down: Maika Adair defeated Nicci Yvanovich 6-1, 6-1; Jessica Kwan outlasted Tara Yekrang 7-6, 7-6; Hope Penner beat Emily Keach 6-4, 6-2, Katelyn Abayan cruised past Carolyn Stevens 6-0, 6-3, Samantha Mohr took a three-setter from Alyson Meyer 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 and Michaela Johnson beat Sophia Meulenberg 6-1, 6-2.

Point Loma wrapped up the sweep with easy wins in doubles. Adair and Abayan beat Yvanovich and Yekrang 8-2. Mohr and Johnson also posted an 8-2 triumph, beating Meulenberg and Keach on three. On court two it was Chiu and Sharon Reibstein beating Stevens and Meyer 8-3.

The Sea Lions have three conference games coming up next week. On Tuesday they will travel to Vanguard for a 2:00 pm match before hosting the same VUSC squad on Wednesday starting at 4:00 pm. They wrap up the week with a Saturday match at home against The Master's (1 pm).
