WHAT'S HAPPENING:
The Point Loma women's basketball team will welcome in three schools from the Bay Area this week for a trio of Pacific West Conference games. The week will begin with Academy of Art on Thursday (Jan. 31) at 5:30 p.m. The Sea Lions will then host Dominican on Saturday (Feb. 2) at 2:00 p.m., and Notre Dame de Namur on Monday (Feb. 4) at 5:30 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Winners of three of their last four games, the Sea Lions now stand at 7-9 on the season and 3-5 in the PacWest. PLNU ranks third in the conference in scoring defense (59.0), and lead the league in field goal percentage defense at .329 and in blocks at 6.7 per game. PLNU also ranks second in the PacWest in 3-point percentage (.330) and treys made per game (6.8).
Callie Rhoads leads PLNU with 13.2 points per game. She has scored in double-figures in five straight games, and 10 of the last 11. She now ranks 12th in the PacWest in scoring (13.2 ppg), fifth in field goal percentage (.517) and second in 3-point percentage (.431).
Carlotta Kloppenburg is ranked third in the PacWest with 2.5 treys per game. Rhoads and Kloppenburg's backcourt mate,
Savannah Erskine, ranks second in the conference with 4.5 assists and sixth with 2.4 steals per game. She is also 10th in the league with a .338 3-point shooting percentage.
Andrea Campbell leads the league with 3.2 blocks per game, and
Abby Boorman is tied for fourth with 2.0 swats per contest.
SCOUTING ACADEMY OF ART:
The Urban Knights are 13-5 on the season and 6-2 in the PacWest. They hold the third seed upcoming conference tournament by a game over Hawaii Hilo. Last week, AAU suffered its first losses in conference at home to Hawaii Hilo and Hawaii Pacific. The Urban Knights had started PacWest play 5-0. Academy of Art leads the PacWest in scoring with 78.1 ppg. It also paces the PacWest in assists (17.6), steals (15.8) and turnover margin (+10.4). Jordan Rogers' 14.0 ppg pace the team. She is also averaging 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per contest. Ariel Dale is leading the team with 6.6 rebounds while also scoring 12.6 ppg. Sha'Nice Storey (12.2 ppg) and Regina Camera (10.2) are also averaging double-figure points for the Urban Knights.
SCOUTING DOMINICAN:
The Penguins are 5-13 on the season and 4-6 in the PacWest. They have lost three straight games, and five of their last six. As a team, Dominican is tied for ninth in the PacWest in scoring with Fresno State at 60.4 ppg. DU is fourth in the league in steals (10.4) and second in blocks to PLNU with 5.1 swats per game. Sarah Nelson leads Dominican with 10.3 ppg and 8.0 rpg. She is the only student-athlete for Dominican averaging in double-figures. She also ranks second in the PacWest with 3.1 blocks per game. Kimi Nakamura is the Penguins' top outside threat with a .376 shooting percentage from behind the arc and 38 treys made on the season.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR:
The Argonauts are 3-14 on the season and 2-7 in the PacWest. They snapped a 13-game losing streak last week with home wins over Chaminade and Dominican. Trisha Malaspina leads the team in scoring (10.6) and rebounding (8.0). She is hitting 41 percent of her shots from the field and 71 percent at the free throw line. Taylor Dewees has increased her scoring by three points in conference play to 10.7 ppg. She is the Argonauts' top outside threat with 26 treys made on the season. NDNU ranks 14 out of 14 teams in the PacWest in scoring with 54.5 ppg. The Argonauts are making just 34 percent of their shots from the field, and only 27 percent from long range.
NEXT GAMES:
Following these three games the Sea Lions will head on the road to Hawaii for four PacWest games. They will open with Hawaii Pacific on Saturday (Feb. 9) before facing BYU-Hawaii on Monday (Feb. 11). PLNU will close out the road trip with games against Chaminade on Wednesday (Feb. 9) and Hawaii Hilo on Saturday (Feb. 16).
