SAN DIEGO -
Callie Rhoads notched her third straight game with 20 or more points and the Sea Lions improved to 2-0 on their Hawaiian road trip with a 76-53 romp of BYU-Hawaii Monday evening.
The win pushes the Sea Lions over .500 for the first time since Dec. 1. PLNU improved to 11-10 overall and 7-6 in the PacWest. The Seasiders fell to 6-13 overall and 5-8 in the PacWest.
Rhoads finished with a game-high 22 points on an impressive 9-of-10 shooting from the field. Even more incredibly, the junior nailed all four of her 3-point attempts.
But it wasn't just Rhoads with the hot shooting hand. As a team, the Sea Lions shot an incredible 59 percent from the field, and made 10 of their 16 attempts (62 percent) from deep.
Combine that with a stifling defense that held the Seasiders to just under 30 percent shooting, and it's easy to see how the Green and Gold won their fourth straight game and sixth in seven tries.
"We are getting better and better because we are bonding on this trip," said Rhoads. "We are getting to do the best two things; going to the beach and playing basketball.
"Tonight our passing and teamwork were the keys," Rhoads continued. "A lot was going against us but we stayed together (to get the win)."
The hosts managed to keep the game close for nearly 10 minutes, and with 11:35 remaining until halftime BYU held a 17-15 lead. But a 20-5 by the Sea Lions effectively put the game out of reach before the break. PLNU led 43-26 at halftime.
The Sea Lions continued to roll after the break. Their lead ballooned to as many as 30 points with five minutes to play after
Jordan Ligons found

Wednesday night the Sea Lions will head back to Honolulu to take on Chaminade. The Silverswords currently sit at the bottom of the PacWest standings with a 1-12 conference record (1-17 overall).
