HONOLULU - Five Sea Lions scored in double-figures and Point Loma cruised to a 91-48 win over Chaminade University Wednesday evening (Feb. 13).

Jessica Escorza poured in 18 points to lead the scoring binge. Callie Rhoads added 14 points and a game-high seven steals. Erin Andersen scored 14, Carlotta Kloppenburg scored 13 and Savannah Erskine chipped in with 10 points for the Sea Lions.

PLNU recorded 16 steals as team on their way to forcing a jaw-dropping, season-high 35 turnovers.

The Sea Lions' largest win since Nov. 11, 2011, pushed them to 12-10 overall and 8-6 in the Pacific West Conference. The ladies have won five straight games, and seven of their past eight, to maintain a perfect 3-0 record on their Hawaiian excursion.

"This trip has really brought us together," said Escorza. "We are bonding on and off the court, and the way we are playing has really built our confidence.

"Tonight we knew we had to keep our energy level up because Chaminade can really shoot it," added Escorza.

Though the Green and Gold struggled to find their shot consistently in the first half, shooting just 34 percent before the break, their airtight defense forced 17 Chaminade turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

The score was tied 6-6 with about three and a half minutes into the game, but the Sea Lions took over the rest of the way. PLNU led 36-21 at the half.

After the break, the Sea Lions blew open the game, shooting 59 percent leading by as many as 45 points off a bucket in the paint from Jordan Ligons with 46 second to play.

With the loss, the Silverswords fell to 1-18 on the season and 1-12 in the PacWest.

The Sea Lions will wrap up their PacWest Hawaii tour Saturday night when they take on Hawaii Hilo at 2 p.m. The Vulcans sit just a half-game ahead of PLNU at sixth place in the PacWest standings at 8-5 (11-8 overall).
