SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Pacific West Conference rival Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 8.

The match started with APU taking two of the three doubles matches. PLNU's win came at No. 3 where Sharon Reibstein and Preethika Venugopal prevailed over Natalie Johnson and Stephanie Quan, 8-4.

Reibstein and Venugopal also picked up points for the Sea Lions in singles play. Reibstein swept her opponent at the No. 4 spot, 6-2 and 6-4. Venugopal won at No. 5 in straight sets 6-2 and 7-6. Both these student-athletes are now 3-0 in singles play this season. Hope Penner earned the other singles win for PLNU at the No. 3 spot with a 4-6, 6-1 and 10-6 victory over Danae Ingwaldson.

This was the third straight win for APU to start the season. Point Loma (0-3) is still looking for its first win of 2014.

The Sea Lions will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at UC San Diego. The match will start at 2:00 p.m.
