SAN DIEGO - The No. 25 Point Loma women's tennis team earned their first sweep of the season with a 9-0 victory over Western New Mexico on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
 
The Sea Lions (2-2) did not drop a set in the victory. Madeline Cunningham, Nikki Newell, Regina von Koch, Preethika Venugopal, Hillary Ramage and Kirsty Mountain  all earned victories in singles. This was the third singles win of the season for Venugopal, von Koch and Mountain.
 
"The great part of winning 9-0 is that everyone leaves feeling great with a win," said Point Loma head coach Curt Wheeler. "We continue to play great in doubles to give ourselves an advantage going into singles."
 
Point Loma won the match after the second singles victory but the other four on the court all battled until the final point to complete the sweep.
 
"I was really proud everyone played like they were the last match," he continued. "Whatever the score is I want to see their everything. Each girl did a great job fighting for their court and it paid off."
 
PLNU will go on the road this Saturday, Feb. 21 to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 3:00 p.m.
