CLAREMONT, Calif. - The No. 25 Point Loma women's tennis team ran into a very tough Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team that is ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II and lost 7-2 on Saturday, Feb. 21.
 
The Sea Lions are now 2-3 on the season and the Athenas improved to 3-0.
 
Point Loma earned its points at No. 2 and No. 3 singles with Nikki Newell and Regina von Koch, respectively. Newell picked up a straight set win over Sarah Kukino 6-3 and 6-4. The freshman is now 2-2 on the season. Von Koch improved to 4-1 on the season with a 5-7, 7-6 and 10-7 win over Katie Kuosman.
 
PLNU will face a tough challenge when No. 4 BYU-Hawaii comes to town on Monday, Feb. 23 at 3:00 p.m.
