SAN DIEGO - The No. 25 Point Loma women's tennis team lost its season opener to No. 13 Azusa Pacific 5-4 on Friday, Feb. 6.
 
The Sea Lions managed to win two of three doubles, but dropped four of six singles to fall in the match to their longtime rivals.
 
PLNU earned points in singles at No. 3 with Regina von Koch defeating Danae Ingwaldson 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4, and with Preethika Venugopal in straight sets 6-0 and 7-5 at No. 4. In doubles Venugopal and von Koch paired up to win 8-3 at No. 2s and Madeline Cunningham and Jen Weissmann earned an 8-6 win at No. 3s.
 
Point Loma's next match will be Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 2:00 p.m. against Cal State LA at home.
