SAN DIEGO - Thursday was Senior Day at the PLNU Tennis Courts. The women's tennis match between No. 25 Point Loma and No. 17 UC San Diego started with a sendoff ceremony to the Sea Lions' lone senior, Preethika Venugopal, but it ended with a 6-3 loss to the Tritons.
 
Venugopal held her own at No. 3 singles to earn a straight set victory in her final home match. She jumped on Nava Nowamooz 6-1 in the first set and then edged her in a tiebreaker, 7-6, in the second set to sweep the match. Venugopal was one of three Sea Lions to pick up singles victories; unfortunately, losing all three doubles matches spelled doom for PLNU.
 
Hillary Ramage and Jen Weissmann both provided PLNU with individual wins in its final home match. Ramage swept her opponent 6-3 and 7-5, and Weissmann did the same to hers 6-4 and 6-2.
 
PLNU ends the season at 9-12 while UCSD finishes 12-10.
 
Point Loma will now prepare for the PacWest Tennis Championships this coming Thursday, Apr. 16 in Surprise, Ariz.
