SAN DIEGO - The No. 31 Point Loma women's tennis team defeated Western New Mexico, 8-1, on Friday, Feb. 26.
 
The Sea Lions are now 4-2 this season. The Mustangs fall to 1-5.
 
Point Loma grabbed the momentum early by sweeping doubles. Hilary Ramage and Nicole Camaratta won at No. 2s, 8-2, Michelle Torres and Jen Weissmann picked up an 8-5 victory at No. 3s and Nikki Newell and Regina von Koch got in the win column at No. 1s, 8-4.
 
In singles, Point Loma got quick points from von Koch at No. 2 (6-0 and 6-1) and from Camaratta at No. 3 (6-1 and 6-0) to complete the victory. Point Loma would add victories at No. 1 from Nikki Newell, at No. 4 from Jen Weissmann and at No. 5 from Kirsty Mountain to complete the 8-1 victory.
 
The Sea Lions will go back on the court tomorrow (Feb. 27) at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The match will start at 3:00 p.m.
