CLAREMONT, Calif. - Nikki Newell won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 6-2 and 6-2, for the Point Loma women's tennis team's only point of the match as it fell on the road at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 8-1 (Feb. 27).
 
PLNU falls to 4-3 on the season while CMS improved to 5-1. This was just the second road match of the season for Point Loma.
 
The match opened in doubles where the Athenas won on courts 1 & 3 by the score of 8-3. Then on court 2 they won 8-6 to take the 3-0 lead. They took that momentum to singles where they won each in straight sets.
 
Point Loma will return to action Tuesday, Mar. 1 at home against Hawaii Pacific. The match will start at 3:00 p.m.
