SAN DIEGO - Nikki Newell and Regina von Koch teamed up for a win in doubles before breaking apart for wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, against PacWest rival and No. 23 Academy of Art, however the No. 31 ranked Point Loma women's tennis team  fell, 6-3, on Friday, Mar. 4.
 
Newell has won four of her last five matches as the Sea Lions' (4-6) No. 1 player. She defeated the Urban Knights' (5-2) Taisiia Andrieieva in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3, on Friday to push her singles record to 5-2 on the season.
 
Her doubles partner Regina von Koch moved her record over .500 to 5-4 by grinding out a 3-6, 7-5 and 10-4 win over Paula Alcantara. Von Koch's singles match was the only one to go three sets. In doubles, the von Koch/Newell duo moved over to court 2 for the first time this season and picked up an 8-3 win.
 
The Sea Lions will return to the courts tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against Georgetown.
