SAN DIEGO - What do Point Loma men's soccer student-athlete Eduardo Gallardo, the Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback Alex Smith, the San Diego Padres' pitcher Brad Hand and famous golfer Phil Mickelson all have in common? All four were among the 2017 September selections for the San Diego Hall of Champions Stars of the Month honors.
 
Point Loma's Gallardo, posted a pair of game-winning goals to move into third place on the Sea Lions' all-time career list while leading PLNU to a 6-2-1 start—its best since 2011. The senior and graduate of Point Loma High school also assisted on another game-winning goal in helping the Sea Lions collect six straight wins.
 
Gallardo is the first Sea Lion to earn this prestigious honor during the 2017-18 campaign. He and the other winners will be honored at the 72nd annual Salute to the Champions in February. To see the complete SDHOC September Stars of the Month release, click here.
 
Gallardo and the PLNU men's soccer team will be in for a test this week as it travels to undefeated California Baptist (7-0-1, 3-0 PacWest). The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
