A look at the Sea Lions
Point Loma (2-0) was selected as preseason co-favorites to win the PacWest along with Azusa Pacific, just one season removed from an NCAA tournament appearance. The team saw their first action of this season this past weekend when they traveled to Azusa Pacific to participate in the CCAA/PacWest Challenge. The Sea Lions opened their season with a dominating 25-point win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. They would battle it out with Cal Poly Pomona in their second game coming away with a 10-point victory after pulling away in the fourth quarter.

The team has several new faces this season, but it is the two returning preseason All-PacWest selections who have anchored the team this season. Seniors Alex Brunk and Roya Rustamzada have both had great starts to the season. Brunk led the team in scoring in both games and is averaging 18.5 points per game on .476 shooting and .600 from three-point range. Rustamzada started the season off with back-to-back double-doubles and is averaging 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. The team started two freshmen and a transfer along with Brunk and Rustamzada, freshman Cara Liggins took little time to adjust to the college game. She scored 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the first two games to earn the PacWest Freshman of the Week award for the first week of the season.

A look at the Pioneers
Cal State East Bay (2-0) earned their first two wins over PacWest teams, Holy Names and Academy of Art. The Pioneers were last year's CCAA Tournament champions and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament. They are off to a good start this season with their two wins in San Francisco. The team is led by Savannah McGill who is averaging 15.5 points and 16.5 rebounds through the first two games of the season. Morgan Greene is also averaging a double-double for the Pioneers with 14.5 points and 12.5 boards on the season so far. McGill is shooting .700 from the field and Greene is shooting .600 overall.

A look at the Falcons
Montevallo is coming to San Diego from Alabama to compete in our Homecoming game. The Falcons are in their first season with the Gulf South Conference after spending eight season in the Peach Belt Conference. The team was picked to finish 13th out of 14 in the preseason conference poll and are currently 1-1 on the season. D'Miyah Foster leads the Falcons in scoring with 13 points per game on the season. Transfer Kassidy Bonebrake is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.5 points per game on .429 shooting including .400 from the three-point line.

Next matches
After the game on Saturday, the team will prepare for a trip to Nampa, Idaho to take on Northwest Nazarene on Wednesday, November 22nd. The team will have a quick turnaround as they host the Thanksgiving Classic Tournament on the 24th and 25th where they will face Cal State LA and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
