SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Every member of the 2017 Point Loma women's tennis team began the season on the right foot with a 9-0 sweep of Westmont on Saturday, Feb. 4.
 
Returning All-PacWest selections Nikki Newell and Regina von Koch set the tone atop the lineup with 6-3 and 6-1 victories at their No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively. They also teamed up at No. 1 doubles and earned an 8-0 win.
 
In fact, all three of the Sea Lions' doubles teams went on to 8-0 wins. Michelle Torres and Shelby Groeneveld teamed up for the first time at No. 2s and Nicole Camaratta and Ellie Gamble picked up the win at No. 3s.
 
Torres and Taylor McGowan also posted sweeps in their singles matches at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.
 
The Sea Lions' next match will be Tuesday, Feb. 7 against affiliate PacWest member Cal State LA on the road. The match will start at 1:30 p.m.
