SAN DIEGO - Unlike earlier this season the Point Loma women's tennis team could not overcome a deficit after doubles, and were edged by Cal State LA, 5-4, on Saturday, Mar. 25.

The loss snaps a three-match winning streak for the Sea Lions. Point Loma drops to 11-5 on the season while CSULA improves to 11-5.

This time the Sea Lions picked up their doubles point on court 3 with
Ellie Gamble and
Nicole Camaratta. The pair recorded an 8-6 victory for their sixth straight win, and are now 13-3 as partners this season. With the 2-1 score the match turned to singles.

Again, Point Loma would win in the top three singles spots, but unlike the previous match, it would not get that one extra point needed for the win.
Nikki Newell (6-4, 6-2) and
Shelby Groeneveld (6-2, 6-4) won on courts 1 and 3, respectively, in straight sets.
Regina von Koch grinded out a three-set win (5-7, 6-4, 10-10) which was ultimately ended by retirement.

The Sea Lions will be back on the court on Thursday, Mar. 30 against San Diego Christian.
