SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's tennis team took down the No. 8 team in the NAIA, San Diego Christian, 7-2 on Thursday, Mar. 30.
 
The Sea Lions improved to 12-5 on the season and dropped SDC to 9-3. This was PLNU's fourth win in its last five matches.

Point Loma opened with a sweep in doubles. Ellie Gamble and Michelle Torres made quick work of their opponents at the No. 3 doubles position, ousting the Hawks' duo 8-3. Shelby Groeneveld and Taylor McGowan followed up with a 9-7 win on court 2, and Regina von Koch and Nikki Newell grinded out an 8-6 win on court 1.
 
The match turned to singles with the Sea Lions needing two points for the victory. Ellie Gamble quickly delivered the first of those points from her No. 6 singles position with a straight set 6-0, 6-0 victory. Groeneveld provided the clinching point with a 6-4, 6-0 win on court 2. Regina von Koch (6-1, 6-3) and Taylor McGowan (6-3, 6-3) would also add singles points and lift the Sea Lions to the 7-2 victory.
 
Point Loma will be back on the courts on Saturday, Apr. 1 at Azusa Pacific. The match will start at 11 a.m.
