SAN DIEGO - Point Loma hosted Brandeis University on Monday afternoon in a matchup with 20th ranked team in NCAA Division III. Despite all of the matches being closely contested, the Judges were able to come away with a 6-2 win. 

Doubles play proved to be a battle between the teams with two of the matches ending with scores of 8-7, but despite the tough competition the Sea Lions were unable to grab a win in doubles competition. Point Loma went with two new doubles pairings at the Nos. 1 and 3. CJ Erion and Grant Alston, playing at No. 2, were the first pairing to finish play falling by the narrow margin of 8-7. Thomas Dafcik and Ben Smit, playing together for the first time this season, just narrowly fell as well by a score of 8-7. 

The Sea Lions looked poised to try and pull even with Judges in singles play with both Dafcik and Yuki Okamoto earning two quick wins to bring the Brandeis lead to 3-2. Those would be the only wins Point Loma was able to garner on the afternoon with Brandies taking the matches at Nos. 4, 5, and 6 to seal the match. Tim Soderman saw his first action of the season playing at No. 6, but fell in a tight match, 7-6, 6-4. Much like doubles play, the matches were closely contested in singles with both Jack Alston and Ben Smit falling in three sets.
