SAN DIEGO - The Sea Lions hosted yet another Division I opponent on Saturday, but this time they were unable to pull off an upset over Liberty University. Playing under the DI tennis rules, the teams counted the doubles competition as one total point and then tallied the points for each individual match. With the Flames earning the edge in doubles, they came away with the match victory, 5-2. 

Despite losing doubles overall, the team of Thomas Dafcik and Yuki Okamoto continue to thrive on the court, coming back from an early deficit to win their match 8-7. Liberty would take both the Nos. 1 and 3 singles 8-3 to earn the 2-1 advantage in doubles and take the 1-0 lead into doubles play. 

Point Loma was unable to push momentum into their favor as the Flames took the first two singles matches to push their lead to 3-0. Okamoto would earn another win on the day taking his No. 4 singles match 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to cut the lead to 3-1 but it would not be enough to get PLNU back into the match. Liberty would clinch the match at No. 6 singles, despite a battle from Tim Soderman. Soderman took the first set 7-5 but was unable to close out the match, losing the next two sets 6-4, 6-1. Jack Alston would also come away with a win for the Sea Lions grabbing a win at No. 5 singles, 7-6, 6-4, for the only other PLNU point.
