SAN DIEGO - Point Loma took down the No. 11 rated team in NCAA Division III men tennis when it defeated Williams, 6-2, on Monday, Mar. 19.
 
The Sea Lions played with resiliency and positive attitudes in every doubles and singles match to grab their sixth win in their last seven matches. CJ Erion and Grant Alston quickly put the first point PLNU on the board with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. The Ephs squeezed out took the next two doubles points, 8-6 and 8-6, to send the match to singles play with Point Loma down 2-1.
 
When the Sea Lions took the court every player knew it would take a complete team effort to get the win as every point would be critical, in what was shaping up to be a very tight match. Williams struck the first shot with a win on court 4 to pull within two point of victory. PLNU did not flinch. It rattled off five straight singles victories to defend their home court.
 
Thomas Dafick and Tim Soderman each posted straight set victories on courts 1 and 6, respectively, to tie the match at 3-3. Brendan Millington then came through with a 6-3 and 7-5 victory on court 2 before Yuki Okamuto delivered the knockout punch with a hard-earned 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4 win on court 3.
