Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – The Point Loma women's tennis team dropped their season opener to No. 14 ranked Azusa Pacific by a score of 6-1.

During doubles play, PLNU would fight to try and scratch out a point but dropped all three doubles matches. Gabi Armas and Rachel Whittington played in the No. 1 position but fell to their opponents 6-3. Going into singles play PLNU trailed APU 1-0.

Looking to overcome a tough doubles match loss Rachel Whittington won her first set in singles play. She would drop her second set 6-1, and also lose in set three by a score of 6-3. The lone point for the Sea Lions came from Faith Pearson. She defeated her opponent in two sets by a score of 6-3 and 7-5.

Point Loma played a tough opponent to open up the season, they will look to rebound in their next match and get their first win of the season.
