4/21/2021 3:00:00 PM

SAN DIEGO – The 2021 PacWest Men's Tennis Championships will be held in Surprise, Ariz. on April 22-24, where eight men's tennis teams will be competing for the PacWest Championships. The winner will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA West Super-Regional.

Hawai'i Pacific enters the tournament as the 2019 defending champions. The Sharks have won six of the seven PacWest Men's Tennis Championships. Point Loma enters the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will play the No. 4 seed Concordia on Thursday, April 22. Concordia comes into the Championships ranked No. 14 in the country.

Point Loma has dropped four straight matches headed into the PacWest Championships, but everyone knows once you're into the postseason, anything can happen. The Sea Lions have defeated one Division I opponent this season and have put forth great matches against some tough regional opponents.

Point Loma's doubles teams have combined to go 15-`8 this season. Tyler Davis and Yuki Okamoto sit at 3-6 in the No. 1 position with wins over Division I opponent Portland State and the No. 1 doubles pair of PacWest foe Azusa Pacific. Alejandro Castaneda and Tales Silva have been a strong duo in the No. 2 position going 5-1 when playing together. The pair has collected wins over Concordia while they were nationally-ranked, Azusa Pacific, and Division I opponent Portland State.

The Sea Lions' singles are led by Tyler Davis who has played in the No. 1 position for the Sea Lions all season. Tyler Davis gained some momentum before heading to the PacWest Championships after defeating No. 10 Hawaii Pacific's No. 1 player in straight sets. Tales Silva currently holds a 4-3 record in the No. 2 position and a winner in two of his last three matches. David Strassburger has been very consistent for the Sea Lions up and down the lineup. Strassburger has split time between the No. 3, 4, 5, and six positions and has collected a victory in all but one position.
