PLNU Men's Soccer had eight Sea Lions recognized by the PacWest on Wednesday when the All-Conference Teams were announced.
Junior defender
Milan Diklic was Point Loma's lone representative on the All-PacWest First Team and D2CCA All-West Region Second Team. Sophomore defender
Milo Libby was joined on the All-PacWest Second Team by a quartet of his senior teammates – forward
Parker Scalzo, midfielder
Corey Lundeen, goalkeeper
Seth Ketterer and defender
Dalton Kinney.
Senior forward
Samuel Tuscano and sophomore forward
Austin Lavell both earned All-PacWest Third Team honors.
Diklic started every game for the Sea Lions, anchoring a back line that held the best goals against average (0.94) in the conference and kept eight shutouts. The France native scored a pair of goals in a win over Chaminade after tallying an assist in a victory against Hawaii Hilo.
Center back Libby (three goals) and left back Kinney (one assist) were also mainstays in PLNU's conference-leading defense that featured Ketterer between the pipes.
The senior goalkeeper was a Third Team All-PacWest selection last season and started every match this year for the Sea Lions. He ranked third in the conference in save % (.746), in addition to leading the PacWest in goals against average and shutouts.
Scalzo and Lundeen were both First Team selections in 2021 and once again were key contributors to the team's offensive productivity.
Scalzo (four goals, one assist), last year's PacWest Player of the Year, tied for the team-lead in goals, with all four coming in conference play. Lundeen (two goals, one assist) consistently provided creativity in the Sea Lion midfield, initiating Point Loma's attack in the final third of the field.
Wingers Tuscano and Lavell were handfuls for opposing defenses to deal with because of their speed, movement and crossing ability. Tuscano, a graduate transfer from Westmont College, tied for the team-lead in goals (four) and assists (four). Lavell also provided four assists, a year after also leading PLNU in assists in 2021.
Point Loma (9-6-3 overall, 6-3-1 PacWest) finished in third place in the conference standings.
