Box Score SURPRISE, Ariz.-Despite an early lead in doubles, the Point Loma Sea Lions (17-7 overall) dropped their PacWest Quarterfinal matchup to the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 4-1 Thursday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club.

Despite Rachel Whittington and Faith Pearson scoring a 6-1 win on Court No. 3, Point Loma dropped the other two matches in doubles to fall behind 1-0 to Fresno Pacific.

The Sunbirds grabbed the first set on four of the six singles courts and eventually picked up another win on Court No. 3 to double their lead in just under an hour.

FPU made it 3-0 with a win on Court No. 2 before Amanda Letzring tallied a 6-2, 6-4 win to make it 3-1.

Faith Pearson was the other Sea Lion to win their first set, while Arianna Audelo was fighting back on Court No. 1.

But FPU clinched the match in straight sets on Court No. 5, defeating PLNU 4-1.

Point Loma is back in action in the consolation bracket Friday at 1:00 pm when they will play Hawai'i Hilo.
