(SAN DIEGO)
Scott Anderson was voted the PacWest Conference Preseason Player of the Year, highlighting five Sea Lions on the Preseason All-PacWest Team, which was announced on Friday.
Â
Â
Anderson is joined by outfielder
Esai Santos, designated hitter
Jake Entrekin, outfielder
Jack Malone and starting pitcher
Dylan Miller, as PLNU's five Preseason All-PacWest honorees are the most of any team in the conference.
Â
All five players earned All-PacWest recognition a season ago.
Â
Â
Point Loma was also picked to finish second in the PacWest this year, receiving five of a possible nine first place votes but one point shy overall of Azusa Pacific, who garnered the other four first place votes and topped the poll with 76 points.
Â
Last season, PLNU won the conference's regular season championship for the second-straight year, winning 21 of its final 26 games to close out the conference schedule.
Â
APU then claimed the inaugural PacWest Tournament title before both teams went on to play in the NCAA West Regional.
Â
Â
The Sea Lions finished the 2023 season with a 36-16 overall record after making a second-consecutive regional appearance.
