OTTO KEMP MAKES PHILLIES' OPENING DAY ROSTER

3/26/2026 9:40:00 AM

(PHILADELPHIA) Point Loma Baseball alum Otto Kemp has made the Philadelphia Phillies Opening Day roster ahead of the 2026 season, which starts on Thursday.

Kemp is the second former player in program history, and first position player, to make an Opening Day MLB roster, joining Mike Ekstrom (2010 – Tampa Bay Rays).

The Sea Lion star made his major league debut on June 7, 2025 before putting together a more-than-respectable rookie season, batting .234 with 11 doubles, 8 home runs, 28 RBIs and a .709 OPS in 62 games.

He put up those numbers despite suffering multiple injuries, including a fractured kneecap just 10 games into his big league career, which required offseason surgery.

Kemp recovered in time for Spring Training, during which he excelled with four home runs, 15 RBIs and an .848 OPS.

His versatility continues to be an asset after playing four different positions for the Phillies as a rookie, with the former Sea Lion projected to split time in the outfield and infield this season.

While at Point Loma, the All-American Kemp led the PLNU to its first-ever PacWest championship, NCAA West Regional title and a national runner-up finish in 2022.
