(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Baseball shortstop
Scott Anderson capped off his stellar Sea Lions' career by being named the PacWest Male Athlete of the Year, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Anderson is the third-straight Point Loma student-athlete to earn the conference's highest annual athletic honor, joining former teammate Baxter Halligan (2022) and men's basketball standout Kaden Anderson (2023).
In his final season on The Point, Anderson left a lasting mark after leading the Sea Lions to a second West Region title in three years and a trip to the NCAA Division II World Series.
He racked up several individual accolades along the way, including a sweep of the West Region Player of the Year awards (D2CCA, NCBWA, ABCA).
The shortstop also earned All-American honors from the D2CCA, NCBWA and ABCA and was named the PacWest Player of the Year.
Anderson played a starring role in PLNU's third-straight conference title and was selected as the PacWest Championships Most Outstanding Player after sparking the Sea Lions to their first-ever PacWest Tournament title.
This year, he became Point Loma's all-time career leader in hits (299), runs scored (189) and RBIs (172).
On the season, Anderson batted .392 with an on-base % of .461 and a slugging % of .678 for a 1.139 OPS.
He also tallied 89 hits, 53 runs scored, 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 66 RBIs on the year.
His 89 hits and 66 RBIs are both the second-most by a Sea Lion in a single season in program history.
The Carlsbad native finishes his career ranked second in program history in career doubles (54), third in home runs (36) and ninth in batting average (.355).
