Cole Friesen scored three goals in two games to earn PacWest Player of the Week honors, while PLNU Men's Soccer earned the conference's Team of the Week award after clinching a third-straight PacWest title.
Friesen scored once and added two assists in Point Loma's 9-0 PacWest-clinching victory over Jessup on Thursday.
He followed that up by scoring the first two goals and assisting the third in a 4-0 win against Fresno Pacific on Senior Day.
Friesen's 11 goals on the season are tied for the conference lead with teammates
Emmett Layman and
Elijah Langford. His eight assists are second in the PacWest to teammate
Inaki Santamarina's nine.
The forward, who is the conference's Player of the Week for the second time this season, leads all PacWest players with 30 points.
Point Loma (13-3-1 overall, 9-1 PacWest) enters the postseason on a five-match winning streak, completing a dominant run through conference play.
The Sea Lions, who clinched their third-straight PacWest title with a game to spare, will be the No. 1 seed in this week's conference tournament, hosted by Westmont.
PLNU will play No. 4 seed Fresno Pacific for the second time in less than a week in a rematch of last year's PacWest semifinals.
Kickoff in Santa Barbara on Thursday is scheduled for 11 a.m. The winner will advance to Saturday's championship match at noon against either second-seeded Vanguard or third-seeded Hawai'i Hilo.
