(SAN DIEGO) A historic PLNU Women's Tennis season has resulted in a pair of ITA West Region awards for the Sea Lions, as announced on Monday.
Emely Valencia was selected as the ITA West Region Most Improved Player, while
Quin Brady was named the ITA West Region Player to Watch.
Both players become the second player in program history to earn those respective awards, while it is the second time that PLNU has had multiple ITA West Region award winners in a single year.
Valencia is 16-4 in singles and 12-5 in doubles this season, playing primarily at No. 4 and 5 singles after playing at No. 6 as a freshman in 2024. She improved her singles win total by six wins and her doubles by four from last season.
Brady leads the team this year with her 17-3 singles record and 16-3 mark in doubles. She is ranked No. 9 in the ITA national doubles rankings with partner
Arianna Audelo, with whom she won the ITA West Regional in the fall. Brady earned All-PacWest Third Team honors in doubles for the second straight season, while also receiving All-Conference First Team recognition in doubles.
Point Loma (19-4 overall) is the No. 8 seed in this week's NCAA Championships in its first ever appearance at the national finals. PLNU will take on No. 9 seed Augustana (18-4) in the first round on Wednesday at 5 a.m. PST / 8 a.m. EST in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
