(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) PLNU Women's Tennis will compete in the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history on Wednesday morning.
After winning an NCAA West Regional match for the first time, Point Loma received the No. 8 seed in the 16-team national tournament, which will take place at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
In the first round, PLNU (19-4 overall) will play against No. 9 seed Augustana (18-4) on Wednesday at 5 a.m. PST / 8 a.m. EST.
The Sea Lions defeated the Vikings earlier this season, 4-2, on March 12 in San Diego at the Barnes Tennis Center.
The winner will advance to the national quarterfinals on Thursday at 6 a.m. PST / 9 a.m. EST against either No. 1 seed Barry (22-1), the defending national runner-up that won the previous six national championships, or No. 16 St. Thomas Aquinas (15-5).
Point Loma is making its first ever appearance at the NCAA Championships, while Augustana is appearing for the second time.
