(SAN DIEGO)
Shawn O'Brien and PLNU Men's Soccer were recognized by the PacWest on Monday after posting a pair of shutout victories last week.
Sophomore right back O'Brien led Point Loma to two clean sheets, earning Defender of the Week honors, while the Sea Lions are the Team of the Week after outscoring their opponents by a combined 5-0.
"Shawn continues to be one of bright spots in the first two weeks of the season," Head Coach
Phil Wolf said. "Out of the possible 360 minutes, Shawn has only sat out 17. He has shown tremendous work rate as he plays both sides of the ball equally well. He played a large part of our consecutive shutouts this past weekend."
PLNU defeated Colorado School of Mines on Thursday, 4-0, before following that up with a 1-0 victory against Regis on Saturday.
O'Brien made several noteworthy defensive interventions to preserve the two clean sheets, while serving as a catalyst to the team's attack.
Point Loma (2-1-1 overall) returns to the PLNU Soccer Field on Thursday at 1 p.m. to host Cal State Dominguez Hills.
