(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Men's Soccer duo
Cole Friesen and
Jeremy Caringella earned PacWest weekly awards, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Friesen was named PacWest Player of the Week, while goalkeeper Caringella was selected as the conference's Defender of the Week.
Friesen scored a first-half hat trick at Azusa Pacific on Tuesday, helping Point Loma overturn an early 2-0 deficit in an eventual 5-2 victory. The team's leading scorer on the season (six goals) became the first PLNU player in the program's NCAA era to score three goals in the first half of a game.
Caringella made four saves in Saturday's 2-0 shutout win against Westmont, as the Sea Lions became the first team to hold the Warriors scoreless in a game this season. The PLNU goalkeeper has now kept three clean sheets in his last four games.
Point Loma (4-2-1 overall), winners of two straight games, opens PacWest play on Thursday at home against Menlo. Kickoff on the PLNU Soccer Field is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
